no wayyy
Wow, it's becoming quite standard for these anime conventions to have gaming tied in with them...
I myself help out at the LAN party held at Anime Evolution.

I think that's great that gaming is sort of making it's way into big scale conventions like this... It means that LAN parties are making their mark! ;)

Hay,

Yeah we have AELAN going on here in Vancouver. For 2009 are looking at 80 PC's and 80 consoles. But Lans and anime cons go together so well. If you want to expand yours fast add a drop in console section as everyone will come by to see. We had 2000 of 5000 people come in to the console room. Absolutely amazing.

We had a lot of success with some console tournaments this year and since Kita-Kon and TBAG LAN are part of the same org. We thought we could just kill two birds with one stone.

We are looking at about 50 computers and 20 console seats + spectators.

3 months to the convention and the lan party :3

This time around we aren't pursuing sponsors because we only have 33 seats. We will be buying some smaller prizes from the registration money though.

Tournys planned are:

    *Warcraft 3 TFT 2v2
    *Call of Duty WaW 3v3
    *TBA
    *TBA

Next time around we are planning about 75 seats for Spring 2010.

Hey crunchbite, good stuff man!

Interestingly enough, the guys behind LAN Party EH are having a large gaming event and LAN Party at Anime Evolution next week (June 11-14th).

Anime conventions and LAN Parties go together so very very well! :) I'll throw up a newspost plugging both the AE and Kita-Kon convention LAN parties this weekend!

I know we have a very large WoW cosplay group going this year so it should be interesting. Although we aren't quite as big as AE (we are thinking about 300-350 people) I think it's a good, fun couple of days.

Sounds good. A friend of mine and myself might drive down to this. It is $20 to get it? We will be there more for the LAN than the convention :P
Either way sounds good. Oh and I recommend a TF2 tournament :)
We hope to be able to come down but we are not sure yet.

Yup, It is $20 to get in if you bring your own computer.

There will be a TF2 Tourney but I do not know the format it will be played, you would have to speak with yaphi.
